The Key Substances in Coffee

  1. Antioxidants: Coffee, especially high-quality coffee, contains a significant amount of antioxidants, such as hydroxycinnamic acids and polyphenols. These substances help fight harmful free radicals in your body, which can contribute to better overall health.
  2. Caffeine: As the best-known substance in coffee, caffeine contributes to alertness and can improve concentration. A moderate amount of caffeine can have a positive effect on your cognitive functions. Although caffeine often gets a negative rap, it is actually a natural stimulant that can be beneficial to the body in moderate amounts. Caffeine can help you stay awake, increase your concentration and even improve your physical performance.

Why Quality Coffee?

Good quality coffee is distinguished by a slower ripening process and better growing conditions, resulting in a richer taste and a higher antioxidant content. In addition, high-quality coffee contains fewer impurities and mycotoxins (fungi), which can have negative effects on your health.

At Fancy Beans we recommend drinking 1 to 4 cups of quality coffee per day, and consuming the last cup of coffee no later than 3 hours before going to bed. This helps to prevent caffeine from disrupting your sleep. So, for example, if you go to bed at 11 p.m., you can safely have a cup of coffee at 7:30 p.m. If you feel like having another cup after 8 p.m., consider drinking a glass of water or tea.
